Greetings, crew!
Wow, it got cold quick! One day we were basking in the sun and 80 degrees, and the next day we were shivering in the cloudy chilliness. OK, maybe that's just me.
Did you all enjoy Star Trek: Prodigy? We had a nice group at the virtual watch party last week. We hung out to discuss the show and everyone seemed to really enjoy it. I particularly like it when they bring back concepts from The Original Series, so I was quite pleased to see a Medusan appear. Haven't seen one of those for quite a long time! Reviews have been mixed at this point. Star Trek fans (those that don't automatically hate anything that wasn't made before 1970) tend to like it, while other critics are slamming the franchise for trying to reel in the younger audience. I'm going to keep an open mind for a while. After all, if I'd stopped watching The Next Generation after the first season's foibles (Dr Crusher crying a lot? Worf growling all the time? Code of Honor - just no.), I never would have seen the good stuff!
Speaking of virtual meetings, we'll be deciding at the Governing Board Meeting on Friday on our format for the November meeting on the 13th. Stay tuned to next week's newsletter for the outcome (and Zoom link if appropriate). We will definitely be having our Board meeting virtually. Just a reminder: all members are welcome to attend the board meetings and you can contact a board member if you want to come.
That's it for now. Take care and see you around the Galaxy!
Mary
