It’s time again to pick the best beer and eat some great food. Will it be Khan, John Harrison, Gary Mitchell, or Q? Oh wait, I am writing about a beer party, right?

Here’s the scoop:

  • The party will start at about 4:00 PM.
  • Beer tasting will start at 5:30pm, so we give time for folks to arrive after the meeting.
  • Bring food to share. This is a very important component of any beer-tasting, since even drinking just ounce of each beer, times many beers, equals a lot of ounces!! We need to eat so that we all don’t have to take cabs home.
  • Bring  four to six bottles or cans of your favorite beer (alcoholic, non-alcoholic, homebrew, funny name, unique flavor, or whatever else you can find). You may even bring soda, if you think it’s better.
  • Bring your taste buds in working order, and bring an open mind, because the labels may be visible. The fact that you always thought light beers were horrible should NOT stop you from voting for one if you think it’s the best-tasting beer in its group (you know who you are).
  • We will taste in rounds of six beers. The rounds will be set by order of arrival, not by category. This means that if you will be arriving a bit late you can still compete. During each round, you will taste all six, giving two points to your favorite and one point to your second choice. We will provide oyster crackers to cleanse your palate between beers.
  • Between rounds you may socialize or play games, or eat more.
  • The top two beers from each round will move on to the next level, until we have winner. The winner(s) will receive a fabulous prize, chosen by your lovely hosts.
  • After the beer tasting experience is over, you may enjoy the hotel’s hot tub and pool. Make sure to bring a suit and towel, and you can use our room to change.

It would be most helpful for us to know how many are coming, so we can plan prizes and seating. Please RSVP to Mary at or . If you know what food you’re bringing, please let us know, so we know what to make. And remember, beer tasting is not mandatory! The main point is to get together, visit and have fun.
