Hello, Crew, and welcome to Fall!
Thanks to all those that came to our annual Chuckwagon Dinner in October. It was a great time and a successful fundraiser. Many generous donations to the auction, ticket sales, and the 50-50 raffle allowed us to make a good donation to the American Cancer Society. We also added to our club treasury. Tons of work goes in to an endeavor like this, and we appreciate so many hands chipping in. I especially want to acknowledge our Science Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Pam, for her superb leadership in these events over the last 12 years. We would not be able to do fun stuff, and have nice things, without her!
Speaking of fun stuff, we have a few plans for the upcoming months. In November we'll have a bake sale during the General Membership Meeting, benefitting the general fund. This is a great place to grab a fresh-made apple pie to bake later and lots of other treats. You're welcome to bring some goodies to sell. Do you know how make the best cookies ever? Do you have a bakery nearby that makes amazing (fill in the blank)? We'd love to try out your wares, so bring some and plan to buy someone else's. Don't forget to separate them into servings (maybe 10 cookies or 4 cupcakes?) and tag them with a price (whole dollars only, please). Cash and checks are welcome, and we can accept Venmo and PayPal.
For our holiday outing this year, we're going low-key because we'd just like to enjoy each others' company a be waited on! We'll gather for an early dinner on December 14th at a restaurant in St Paul (location TBD at the November meeting - will be in the West 7th Street area). We'll be putting a signup list on the website soon. There is some interest in going on a tour at the Alexander Ramsey House nearby, and we'll be asking if you are interested at the meeting (or let a board member know by email). Check out the details at: https://www.mnhs.org/ramseyhouse
Coming up in January, we have our annual winter Feed My Starving Children on the 21st (sign up HERE). There's room for 8 more people as of this writing. After we finish packing at 8:30 p.m. we'll grab dinner nearby (surprise!). Also in January, mark your calendars for a visit to the Science Museum of Minnesota on the 31st (details to follow).
Remember the October meeting, when we couldn't finish the awards due to a glitch? Well, come to the meeting and you'll see the rest of the story - promise! Don't forget - our meeting will officially start at 12:30 p.m. and we start gathering at noon.
See you around the Galaxy!
Mary
