We had a wonderful evening at Midland Hills Country Club on Saturday (May the 40th be with you!). The food was amazing, from the delicious cheese, fruit and crackers served during cocktail hour to the yummy desserts. Our buffet featured wild-rice stuffed chicken and crumb-coated walleye (both melt-in-your-mouth delicious), roasted potatoes, green beans almondine and rolls. Dessert was 40th Anniversary cake and strawberry cheesecake. Our bartenders and servers were top-notch.
After dinner and a short program, we danced to our favorite Star Trek and dance tunes, visited, posed in the Photo Ops area, and simply had a wonderful time. And this group looks mighty fine when they get gussied up, for sure! We also honored members that are no longer with us and toasted those who could not attend. Thanks to everyone that came for making it so special!
40th anniversary memorial plaque
We have a special gift for all members this year to honor our milestone – a USS Nokomis 40th Anniversary Challenge Coin. As you may know, coins of this type have been used since the time of the Roman Empire to recognize great achievement and merit. Accordingly, the attendees on Saturday received this coin to celebrate our anniversary. We will be making them available to all members, beginning at the picnic.
