Quick start to Nokomis ZOOM meetings

Meeting etiquette: During the meeting people can talk over each other and nobody gets through.  If you want to speak up, call out Mary’s name, she’ll pause the meeting and ask for comment. If you’re not talking in the meeting and have a way to do it, please mute your microphone.

If you have a headset with microphone it will be far easier to hear and be heard, but it’s not necessary.

And if you have to go to the, well, the personal needs room (wink wink), please don’t take the phone with you.

How to connect to any meeting we have.

Note: You don’t need to create a ZOOM account to join the meeting. For more information, go to Zoom.us and click Support.

Each meeting will have a unique meeting number.  You'll be able to see it in the Events page by clicking on the event to open the details.

On a cell phone or landline (voice)

  • Dial the phone number included on the invitation or announcement.
  • Follow the prompts to enter the meeting number, followed by the pound key (or hash for the Brits in the group). We don’t have participant IDs, so just press pound again.

On a PC or Mac

  • Install the Zoom Desktop Client for Windows or Mac by clicking the download page.
  • Click on the meeting link, allow the Zoom Desktop Client to start, then follow the directions

-or-

  • Start the Zoom Client, click on Join Meeting, and enter the meeting code (it will be different for each meeting). Select the options you need, then click Join

On Google or IOS (if you’d rather use the smartphone features)

  • Install the Zoom Cloud Meetings App from your App Store
  • To join a meeting without signing in, tap the gear icon to access the basic meeting settings.

The service does not support smart speakers on individual accounts (yet), so to use that cool Amazon Echo you’ll need to use it like a Bluetooth speaker.

Keep checking back, we'll keep improving this info as we learn
