Newsletter and Site Access Interruption – 5 April 6:35PM to 10:05PM

You may have noticed the newsletter didn't have pictures or would't click through.  If you tried to go to the website you got a message that the domain was disabled.  We're clear of that emergency, but it does illustrate how careful we need to be in our Internet lives.

We had the unfortunate timing to send a bulk email just as some other accounts on related servers were compromised.  We got flagged and shut down.  We didn't get hacked, and all our data is safe and intact and our site security is, well, ok.   We're protected three layers deep and still the rip-roaring finger of the Internet poked at us.

Take it as a lesson.  Use strong passwords.  Keep your firewall up and active, and don't allow exceptions if at all possible.  Keep your virus scanner up and running, and up to date.  And finally, make sure your PC is fit enough for internet relations.

Dinner and Lyric Arts Theater This Saturday

On This Saturday, January 16th we are going out for a nice evening of dinner and a play. The play is The 25th Annual Putman County Spelling Bee, a Tony Award winning play that is supposed to be a hoot. Guests under the age of 14 are not allowed, so no little kids (isn't that intriguing?)! You may go online at www.lyricarts.org for more information. Tickets may be purchased by phone at 763-422-1838, and you'll want to reserve early in case they sell out the evening performance. Specify that you're with the USS Nokomis so they'll seat you by the group.

Dinner will be at Biaggi's Ristorante Italiano in The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes. Our reservation is for 3:30 pm. Check it out at www.biaggis.com.

If we're done dinner and still have time to kill, Phill and Lynne have invited us to their home for a warm place to stay.  Contact Phill for directions if you don't already know where they are.  Expect that the after dinner crowd won't arrive there until 5:30 or so.

The show starts at 7:30 PM in the Anoka Downtown area.

Let Mary know if you're coming, we want to make the reservations right!

History of Hallmark’s Star Trek Keepsake Ornaments

After 50 years, the distinctive image of the USS Enterprise has come to serve not only as home for hundreds of explorers of the future but also as an iconic symbol of the Star Trek universe and all that represents to its fans. For more than half that time, sculptor Lynn Norton has devoted uncounted hours to interpreting incarnations of the beloved starship, creating Keepsake Ornaments for Hallmark that bring fans’ favorite memories and fantastic moments to Christmas trees each year (and admittedly to collectible displays all year long for many people).
